In brief

British pubs face a Guinness supply crisis as Diageo restricts keg orders due to soaring demand.

Article text: British pubs are currently experiencing a Guinness drought! The problem surfaced recently when Diageo, the parent company of the famous Irish stout, began limiting how many barrels pubs can order weekly due to unprecedented demand. "Over the past month, we have seen exceptional consumer demand for Guinness," Diageo stated. The beer has captured the hearts of drinkers across the Atlantic, especially Gen Z, influenced by clever marketing and viral trends, like the "split the G" challenge where drinkers compete to chug a pint, leaving the foam perfectly perched at the top. However, with the festive season upon us, many pubs are struggling to stock their taps as Diageo enforces these new ordering limits. The situation has led to panic-buying reminiscent of the toilet paper shortages during the pandemic, warned industry analysts. Some pub managers were skeptical at first, thinking it was merely rumor, but now they’re facing the reality of empty taps. "Turns out, it’s real," remarked Tommy McGuinness, manager of The Marquis pub in London. As the countdown to Christmas continues, the shortage leaves many wondering when they’ll be able to enjoy their favorite pint again.
