Four ancient treasures, including the elaborately adorned Helmet of Cotofenesti, were stolen from a Romanian jewellery exhibit during a break-in early Saturday. The burglars, believed to be part of a larger group, detonated explosives at approximately 3:45 AM local time, causing distress among museum staff.

Among the stolen items were three Dacian spiral bracelets and the central helmet piece, crafted over 2,500 years ago. Romania's culture officials are working diligently to recover these national treasures, which were on loan from Bucharest. Drents Museum director Harry Tupan expressed shock, calling it the largest security breach in the museum's long history.

Authorities investigated the crime scene, reviewing CCTV footage and examining a burnt vehicle believed to be connected to the thieves. As of now, no arrests have been made, but Interpol has been alerted to assist in tracking down the culprits and recovering the stolen items, which hold immense cultural significance to Romania.
