In brief
The recent order to change water flow regulations aims to move away from the restrictions set by Obama, promising stronger water pressure for Americans.
Former President Donald Trump is on a mission to "make America's showers great again"! During a recent announcement, he revealed plans to revoke rules that limit water flow from showerheads, which he claims have made showering inconvenient. The White House states that previous regulations implemented under Barack Obama's administration were part of a "radical green agenda" that inconvenienced everyday Americans. Trump specifically criticized how long it takes for him to wet his hair, describing current showerhead pressures as "ridiculous." Consumer advocates, however, argue that easing these regulations could lead to wasteful water usage and increased bills for households. Regulations from the 1992 energy law cap water flow at 2.5 gallons per minute, but Obama broadened this restriction to apply to multi-nozzle designs. In the past, Trump attempted to change these rules at the end of his first term but was overturned by Joe Biden. With his new order, Trump aims to return to the simpler definition of a showerhead and eliminate excessive regulations that he claims make showering a hassle. He signed the order while emphasizing it would free Americans from "bureaucratic nightmares," stating, “No longer will showerheads be weak and worthless.” The changes are set to take effect 30 days after notification from the energy secretary. So, will stronger showers be the key to happier mornings? Stay tuned!
