In brief
Two European brown bears, Mish and Lucy, escaped their enclosure for a sweet honey adventure, munching through a week's worth of honey in under an hour!
Mish and Lucy, two friendly five-year-old European brown bear siblings, just pulled off a delightful escape at Wildwood Trust in Devon, England! These bears are known for their playful nature, but this time they took their fun to a whole new level by raiding their food supplies, particularly their beloved honey. On Monday, after breaking free from their enclosure, the furry duo turned the sanctuary upside down, devouring a week's worth of honey in just an hour! It was a scene that could give even “Winnie the Pooh” a run for his money. Mark Habben, the director of zoological operations at Wildwood Trust, was informed about the bears' mischievous adventure while at their other location in Kent. Initially thinking it was a drill, he soon realized it was no joke! The sanctuary quickly enacted emergency protocols, ensuring the safety of 16 guests by moving them to a play barn and calling local authorities just in case. Luckily, no one was in danger, and the bears were soon back in their enclosure. Who knew a heist could be so sweet?
