In brief
A deadly explosion on Monday at Sigachi Industries in Telangana has resulted in significant casualties and injuries.
At least 36 individuals have lost their lives, and around 40 more were seriously injured in a significant explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in Telangana, India. The blast occurred on Monday and ignited a fierce fire that left the Sigachi Industries plant in ruins, located about 30 miles from the state's capital, Hyderabad. Firefighters worked through the charred debris Tuesday, while emergency services searched for survivors in the twisted remains of the factory. Most of the injured are battling burn wounds and smoke inhalation. Officials stated that the cause of the explosion might be linked to a pressure buildup in a dryer system, potentially leading to a "dust explosion." This incident marks the highest death toll from a fire in the region in over 25 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the tragedy and announced financial assistance for the families of the victims.
