With images of endless security lines splashed across social media, travelers’ worries over missing flights are prompting them to arrive at airports earlier than ever. However, airports like John Glenn International in Ohio are urging passengers to curb these habits.

'Arriving too early can actually create longer lines right when we open,' the airport explained on social media. Instead, they recommend arriving only 90 minutes before flight departure.

Some airports are facing long wait times due to chaotic conditions exacerbated by a government shutdown, yet others maintain acceptable standards. Travelers are encouraged to keep an eye on TSA wait times before heading out to avoid added anxiety.

This rush to the airport mirrors the panic buying seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing how uncertainty leads people to act out of fear rather than logic.

'It's human nature to react when there's chaos,' explains Shari Botwin, a Philadelphia social worker. She notes that passengers might hesitate to believe reassurances from airport authorities about changing arrival times.
