In a shocking incident, a U.S. Park Police officer was shot in an ambush while driving an unmarked vehicle in Washington, D.C. The attack occurred on Monday evening, near the border with Maryland. Chief Scott Brecht of the Park Police mentioned during a press briefing that the officer was targeted by two gunmen who opened fire during an investigation, though no details about the case have been disclosed.
