Apple sues the artificial intelligence titan OpenAI, its former employees, and a design start‑up for stealing confidential project information. Apple claims the theft was part of a larger strategy to learn Apple’s hidden manufacturing techniques and plans for future products.
The court filing names two senior Apple engineers and a veteran designer from Jony Ive’s team, now in high‑level roles at OpenAI. Apple argues that the accused parties have used this insider knowledge to fuel OpenAI’s consumer hardware ambitions—anticipating a new keyboard and other devices this month. Apple also demands that the court stop OpenAI from accessing any proprietary Apple information and seeks damages.
OpenAI has indicated it is reviewing the complaint and emphasizes it is solely committed to developing open, powerful AI tools.
