Australian Greens Senator Denies Misconduct Allegations

Senator Jordon Steele-John, who sits in the Senate representing Western Australia, denied a series of allegations that range from inappropriate behaviour towards women to a sexual assault claim.

He stated the Police had closed the investigation and no charges were laid, whilst the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission will now handle the matter.

The senator has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, an aspect highlighted in his rebuttal, where he criticised the Greens leadership for what he calls “nasty political games” and for timing the allegations around pre‑selection planning.

The Greens have opened an internal inquiry and confirmed the matter is being referred to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission. A 47‑page dossier dating back several years was also disclosed, supposedly prepared to manage any media fallout.

The senator remains committed to restoring public trust through transparency and accountability, while acknowledging the claims could severely damage his reputation.
