After a series of significant airstrikes ordered by President Trump against Houthi positions in Yemen over the weekend, the Iran-aligned militia has issued a strong warning, vowing to retaliate after claiming the strikes resulted in the deaths of at least 31 people, including innocent women and children. The Houthis, who have been in a longstanding conflict and supportive of Hamas, launched assaults against Israel and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The U.S. targeted several areas in Yemen, including the capital Sana as well as provinces such as Saada and Hajjah. Eighteen of those reported dead were said to be women and children, according to Houthi officials, although these figures haven’t been independently confirmed. A spokesperson for the Houthi health ministry, Anis al-Asbahi, expressed deep concern over the civilian casualties resulting from the strikes.

In response, the U.S. Central Command stated that these military operations are crucial for protecting American interests and ensuring safe navigation in regional waters. The strikes, described as precision actions, underscore a significant escalation under Trump's administration, marking the most extensive military engagement in the Middle East since he took office earlier this year.
