Three people lost their lives when Yemeni Houthi fighters launched drones and missiles at Saudi airports.

On Oct 6, the Abha International Airport saw two fatalities and 28 injuries, while a week later the King Khalid airport in Riyadh was hit, killing one and wounding eight.

The Houthi militia, backed by Iran, said the attacks were retaliation for massive Saudi strikes that have struck their positions in Yemen, including 60 airstrikes in just 24 hours.

Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority didn’t name the attackers, but a Houthi spokesman confirmed use of ballistic missiles and drones.

The conflict has already escalated after the Houthis seized parts of the Red Sea coast. Control of the Bab al‑Mandab Strait near the island of Yemen is strategic for global shipping.

In response, Saudi officials vowed the attacks would be punished, citing missions targeting more than 80 Houthi sites.

The UN warns that the renewed flare‑up could deepen the humanitarian crisis, with over 200,000 people displaced and hundreds dead.
