In brief

Actor Imran Khan, nephew of Bollywood star Aamir, was told to leave India by 28 October after taking part in a protest demanding electoral changes. Khan holds an Overseas Citizen of India card, which lets him visit the subcontinent but not vote. The police said he broke law by participating in the rally but his lawyer argues the OCI card does not ban protests. The notice comes amid a larger Gen‑Z movement calling for reforms and the resignation of the chief election officer. Khan plans to appeal the order in the Bombay High Court.

Indian authorities told actor Imran Khan, nephew of Bollywood legend Aamir, to leave the country by 28 October after he joined a youth‑led protest demanding electoral reforms.

Khan holds an Overseas Citizen of India card, which lets him visit the subcontinent but not vote or stand in elections. The police said he breached law by raising his voice at a rally, while his lawyer argues the OCI card does not forbid protesting.

The order comes as a Gen‑Z movement called the Cockroach Janta Party marches across India, asking the chief election commissioner to resign over alleged fraud. Thousands of demonstrators have also gathered in Delhi and Mumbai over the weekend.

Khan plans to challenge the notice in the Bombay High Court, saying it is “drastic.” He has already returned to acting, appearing in the Netflix film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum after a decade‑long break.

The case highlights the clash between celebrity influence and political activism, and shows how social media can turn a protest into a national conversation.
