News Sprint: Federal prosecutors are poised to bring fresh charges against former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and wife Cilia Flores, the U.S. court will hear claims that they conspired in the torture of Americans jailed in Venezuela.

The latest allegations follow a dramatic night‑time raid on January 3, when U.S. agents seized the couple in Caracas and ferried them to Manhattan. Already indicted for drug trafficking and weapons offenses, Maduro and Flores now face additional accusations tied to human rights abuses.

While the duo’s lawyers argue sovereign immunity and claim the U.S. seizure was illegal, the judge has yet to rule on their motion to dismiss. A trial is slated for June 2027.
