In brief

Ukrainian drones hit two Wildberries warehouses overnight, with the most dramatic strike in the Moscow region claiming five lives. The blaze, captured by Reuters footage, shows thick black smoke hanging over the site, prompting officials to call it a "major destruction". Ukraine says these depots supply weapons to the Russian army, a claim Moscow denies. Meanwhile, across Russia, casualties rise as Ukrainian attacks hit residential and industrial sites, sparking a tense flip‑flop over civilian casualties. The conflict intensifies as Russia counters by claiming to have shot down 320 drones this night.

Ukrainian drones struck two Wildberries warehouses in Russia overnight, with the most dramatic blow landing close to Moscow. In the fallout, five civilians died and many others were injured, officials confirmed.

The blaze was captured by Reuters footage, showing thick black smoke wailing from the warehouse. Moscow’s governor said the site caught fire and also damaged an industrial complex nearby.

Ukraine says the depots are part of the Russian army’s supply chain, a claim Moscow repeatedly denies. Russia’s defence ministry claimed it destroyed 320 Ukrainian drones that night.

The incident adds pressure to an already tense conflict. Across Russia, other strikes targeted residential and industrial sites, prompting disputes over whether civilians were deliberately hit. Both sides deny intentional targeting of civilians.

The wildfires impact global supply chains, especially for a company often likened to “Russia’s Amazon.” Wildberries has not commented on its facilities, but the St. Petersburg location has confirmed it was hit.
