MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis woman, Georgia Savageford, has bravely shared her personal trauma following a recent incident involving federal immigration officers. During a press conference, she recounted witnessing the shooting and death of Alex Pretti by ICE agents, an event that has left her deeply shaken.
Savageford, who was legally observing ICE actions, claims she was subjected to unnecessary force herself when agents tackled her during her monitoring. That day has changed me forever, she stated, emphasizing the emotional scars she now carries.
Her experience is now part of a larger clash between the community and law enforcement, as Savageford joined others in highlighting the pattern of excessive force used against protesters by federal officers. Her lawyer, civil rights attorney John Burris, revealed they are preparing for potential class-action lawsuits to address these issues.
The Department of Homeland Security has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the controversy, while Minnesota officials seek accountability for recent events surrounding immigration enforcement actions.
