HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Offset, the rapper once part of the popular trio Migos, was shot Monday outside a casino in Florida and is currently in stable condition, revealed a spokesperson.
Though specifics of his injuries remain unclear, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The police reported that one other person had non-life-threatening injuries during the incident, which took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's valet area.
More than three years prior, Offset's cousin and fellow Migos member Takeoff was tragically killed in a separate shooting incident. Following Takeoff’s death, Quavo, the third member of Migos, organized a summit aimed at fighting against gun violence, highlighting the ongoing concerns within the hip-hop community over such tragedies.
The police have confirmed that two individuals were taken into custody, while assuring the public that there is no current threat. Offset's history with Cardi B, with whom he shares three children and briefly married, adds a personal layer to his life outside music.
The hip-hop group Migos made waves with their brisk style and hits, including Versace, which helped them rise to fame. Offset's recent shooting has prompted conversations about safety and the troubling pattern of violence affecting artists in the hip-hop industry.
As the investigation unfolds, fans and followers of Offset are hoping for his swift recovery.
