Upon entering the quaint town of Cuglieri, Marta encountered two women creating a warm local atmosphere on a lazy Sunday. For her, the interactions reflected the island’s close-knit feel. Meeting three locals—Antonio, Giovanni Maria, and Renzo—made her feel instantly at home, as locals refer to Sardinia simply as an “island” when discussing life away from the mainland.Marta and her partner set off from Cagliari, the capital, with plans to explore the island's fascinating 1,150 miles of coastline while engaging in swimming, hiking, and visiting nearby islands.
