Russia has launched the largest attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure since the spring, according to Ukraine's Prime Minister. The overnight strikes hit Kyiv and surrounding regions, sparking the biggest, combined assault since the last heating season.

At least five people were killed, including a child in the Kyiv region, and the attacks knocked out power to thousands of homes, said DTEK, Ukraine’s biggest private energy firm.

Among the targets was the Trypilska power station, the biggest supplier of electricity to Kyiv. Operators confirmed damage and are assessing its scale.

The strike pierced 11 regions overnight, hitting residential buildings, social infrastructure, civilian enterprises and railways. President Zelensky said hits were reported in Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Rivne.

Power outages persisted in multiple regions, including Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv. Ukrenergo advised residents not to use high‑power appliances between 10:00 and 16:00 local time.

Russia’s defence ministry claimed it intercepted more than 380 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions, including Moscow. Ukraine’s military said it struck a drone warehouse in occupied Donetsk.

The front line remains largely stagnant, with Ukraine’s Third Army Corps reporting recapture of settlements near Lyman in Donetsk as part of Operation Vivaldi. President Zelensky visited troops in the area.
