In brief
A Brazilian street artist, known as Mundano, has unveiled a giant mural in São Paulo, calling out the U.S.-based farming company Cargill for its impact on deforestation.
Mundano, perched 11 stories high, used natural materials sourced from fire-ravaged Brazilian rainforests to create a striking mural of Indigenous leader Alessandra Korap. The artwork spans 15,000 square feet and is a direct appeal to Cargill, urging them to remove crops that contribute to deforestation from their supply chain. This vibrant mural, visible to city traffic, acts as both an artistic statement and an environmental protest. Funded by conservation nonprofit Stand.Earth, the mural reveals the devastating landscape caused by agricultural practices. The unveiling drew public attention, with locals already abuzz about the message it sends regarding environmental issues in Brazil. Mundano hopes his work ignites conversations on the urgency of protecting the Amazon.
