Sophie Woods Smash Records on Alpine Ultra

Runner Sophie Woods became the fastest person to finish a 2,000‑kilometre ultramarathon across the Alps.

She tackled the Via Alpina trail, battling storms, heat up to 37 ºC, floods and wildfires in eight countries.

She shared that she kept concentrating on the fragment of time she was in, focusing on the minute she was running, ignoring the long journey.

The previous record stood at 35 days; Woods completed it in 29 days, thanks to ice‑cream slushies that kept her powered up.
