A missile strike on the town of Pryluky, east of Kyiv, left 19 dead, five of them children, and shattered 30 flats in a five‑storey block.
What Happened
Russian missiles hit the apartment building early Wednesday morning, killing a one‑year‑old boy for each of the children. Rescue teams spent hours wading through rubble, and a fifth child was found later in the debris. The blast also damaged a youth centre and other residential buildings.
The Aftermath
Around 70 missiles were launched that day, with 39 drones intercepted by Ukraine’s air force. In neighbouring cities, two people died in Kyiv, two in Kremenchuk, and another two in Oleksandriya. The attacks also caused extensive property damage and injuries.
Ukraine Responds
President Zelensky labelled the strike "vile" and called it a birthday gift to Russia’s president. He urged allies for air‑defence support while Ukraine launched retaliatory strikes on Russian energy sites. The incident highlights the ongoing danger to civilians amid the war.
