Trump unveils ‘Super‑Intelligence’ taskforce

US President Donald Trump announced Sunday a new Super Intelligence Force to steer AI policy.

The squad will be led by National Intelligence Director Jay Clayton and will work with the FTC, the Pentagon and other agencies to keep the US ahead of AI competition.

This follows Trump’s order renaming AI to Super Intelligence and his promise that tech companies will largely self‑regulate.

Industry giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX and Google signed a “morally binding” pact on safety last month, and Musk has already started calling his company super‑intelligence.

The taskforce’s chief said, “When something’s both an opportunity and a threat, you better get your arms around it.”

With Seattle‑based AI models raising security concerns, Trump’s move comes as experts debate how best to balance innovation and safety in the fast‑growing AI field.
