US President Donald Trump just dropped a headline‑making tweet: he’s sealed a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin that will unleash 300,000 tons of diesel into the market right now, followed by bigger shipments in November and December.
The move is a direct response to the U‑S fuel surge that has put diesel prices over $6 a gallon in the USA – a double‑digit increase since the war‑in‑Iran flare‑up started in February.
Trump says "Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST!" as the Treasury issues a temporary license allowing the Russian fuel to flow.
Putin’s envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, added on Twitter that the partnership will benefit "the world." Political analysts warn it could shift power dynamics heading into the mid‑term elections.
The average U‑S diesel price sits at $6.28 a gallon today, down from a $6.53 peak last month, but the influx could see an even lower average by year‑end.
