In brief
Witnesses describe a sudden flip mid-descent and their escape from the overturned aircraft.
A recent Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis took a shocking turn when it crashed upon landing at Toronto’s airport, flipping upside down but fortunately keeping all 80 onboard alive. Passengers recount the harrowing moments they faced, when a routine descent turned into chaos.Pete Koukov, a 28-year-old professional skier, was headed to Toronto for a ski-related film. He described the descent as normal until the aircraft hit the ground and skidded onto its side. He quickly unbuckled and dropped to the floor, which had become the ceiling. “I saw flames as we hit the ground,” he said, documenting his escape on Instagram, showcasing the frantic scene as passengers climbed over seats to reach an exit onto a snow-covered runway.Another passenger, Pete Carlson, a paramedic, was en-route to a conference when their descent was abruptly interrupted by the crash. “One moment I’m landing, and the next, I’m upside-down,” he explained, recalling the disorientation as they hit the ground hard. Despite the terrifying experience, Carlson, like Koukov, was among the many who emerged safely from the wreckage, ready to share their story with the world.
