In brief
The Chinese government has suspended Admiral Miao Hua, suspected of corruption, illustrating the continued fight against graft in the military despite Xi Jinping's efforts to curb it.
A senior Chinese military official, Admiral Miao Hua, has been suspended and is currently under investigation for “serious violations of discipline,” signaling the enduring issue of corruption even at high ranks. The news was shared during a recent briefing by Senior Colonel Wu Qian from the Ministry of National Defense, although it wasn’t published on the ministry’s website. Admiral Miao has been with the Central Military Commission since 2017, overseeing political work within the People’s Liberation Army (P.L.A.). Analysts note that this is a significant case, especially as it combines both military and political implications amidst Xi Jinping's campaign against corruption. The investigation reflects ongoing concerns regarding integrity and loyalty within China's military elite.
