In brief

Vinted has deleted listings of items believed to have been taken during the recent French riots, declaring zero tolerance for selling looted goods. The platform says it’s monitoring suspicious listings and tightening its policies with help from law‑enforcement. French authorities arrested over 1,200 people amid widespread damage, sending shockwaves to local businesses and online sellers alike.

Vinted, the popular online second‑hand marketplace, pulled dozens of listings that were linked to items stolen during the chaotic French riots of the weekend.

The company said it had taken “immediate action” to identify and remove dubious posts, and will strengthen monitoring of suspicious activity. Vinted warned that selling or soliciting stolen goods will be met with permanent bans.

Authorities cited over 1,200 arrests and millions of euros in damage as a result of the protests turning into riots across Paris, Marseille, Lille and other cities. The “looted loot” appeared on the site, prompting Vinted’s quick response.
