PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Post-holiday travelers faced rough conditions in the Midwest as black ice, snow showers, and fog created significant disruptions on Monday. At Chicago O'Hare International Airport, over 8 inches of snow fell, setting a new record for November snowfall. This resulted in about 300 flight cancellations and around 1,600 delays. Commuting remained treacherous across numerous roads into Monday night. In addition, the Northeast anticipated a major snowstorm, with some areas poised to receive up to 10 inches. Plows prepped heavily trafficked routes, and vehicle restrictions were announced on the Pennsylvania Turnpike ahead of predicted snowfall. With over 600 workers set to tackle the winter weather, safety was a top priority as winter began to take hold.
