MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin woman who admitted to nearly stabbing a classmate to death in 2014 to please the online horror character Slender Man is missing after she cut off an electronic monitoring device and left a group home, authorities said Sunday. Madison police issued an alert for Morgan Geyser, now 23, who was last seen around 8 p.m. Saturday with an adult acquaintance. Notably, Geyser was granted conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute this year and placed in a group home.
In 2018, she was sent to the psychiatric facility after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide in order to avoid prison time. Geyser's lawyer has not commented on the situation yet. Geyser and her friend, Anissa Weier, were only 12 when they attacked their classmate, Payton Leutner, resulting in a close brush with death for her. The girls claimed their actions were intended to prove their loyalty to Slender Man, fearing that he would harm their families if they failed to comply with his demands. Weier was granted release in 2021 after her case for attempted second-degree intentional homicide.
