The Supreme Court of Victoria has unveiled around 100 images used during the trial. These include chilling remnants of the beef Wellington dinner that tragically resulted in the deaths of three family members and near-fatal effects on another.

The court heard that Patterson intentionally sourced death cap mushrooms, known for their deadly toxins, which cannot be destroyed by cooking. Despite her claims of purchasing mushrooms from a grocery store, evidence suggested she had been searching for these fatal fungi, even mapping their sightings through platforms like iNaturalist.

In the days following the meal, three relatives succumbed to mushroom poisoning in hospital, while one survivor battled for his life. A food dehydrator linked to Patterson's case revealed traces of the poisonous mushrooms, as well as forensic evidence pointing to her attempts at concealing the details.

This shocking trial raises awareness about the very real dangers of mushroom foraging and the stringent digression of evidence in criminal cases.
