Zou Zhenhao, a 28-year-old student from China, faces sentencing in London after being convicted of drugging and raping at least ten women. Described as "one of the most prolific predators" by police, Zou's assaults took place between September 2019 and May 2023 in both the UK and his home country. Investigators anticipate identifying around 50 more potential victims through videos he created using hidden cameras in his residences.
Originally from Dongguan in Guangdong Province, Zou was pursuing mechanical engineering at University College London. He targeted victims through his university, social media, and dating websites. Detective Kevin Southworth of the Metropolitan Police indicated that some victims may remain unaware of what occurred to them due to the drugs Zou used to incapacitate them.
Following his conviction, police have encouraged additional victims to come forward to report their experiences. They fear that some women seen in the recorded footage may never be identified due to the poor quality of the images or their current locations globally. The case highlights a disturbing reality about sexual violence and the challenges of seeking justice for unseen victims.
