‘Cockroach’ Protest Leaders Detained in Delhi
Hundreds of youngsters marching under the “Cockroach Janta Party” banner were detained by Delhi police just as the rally was about to kick off. The CJP, a Gen‑Z movement that exploded after a Chief Justice’s joke, has been pushing for fresh voter‑list rules.
Police Blockade—Over 10,000 officers and barricades jammed roads around Jantar Mantar. Trains were cancelled and metro stations closed, forcing organisers to scramble for a new route.
The founder, Abhijeet Dipke, and two senior members were taken on a flight from Mumbai and landed in an undisclosed location. Delhi Police have not commented on the fate of the detained.
The CJP calls for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, claiming the voter‑roll revamp favours the ruling party. The Election Commission denies any bias.
Despite the detentions, activists said they will keep fighting for electoral transparency, with youth saying the protest represents a new wave of Indian democracy.
