Now that the historical white smoke has emerged from the Sistine Chapel, it signals the selection of a new pope following Pope Francis. Although the world awaits in anticipation, the official announcement won't be immediate. Traditionally, it takes around an hour for the newly elected cardinal to make an appearance to announce the joyous news in Latin.

This time, Cardinal Dominique Mamberti of France is rumored to be the candidate, but if he indeed becomes the pope, Cardinal Mario Zenari of Italy will make the announcement. In the meantime, preparations are underway in the Apostolic Palace.

Archbishop Diego Ravelli will prepare a document confirming the status of the new bishop of the Church of Rome, while voting cardinals will pay their respects. After the ceremonial actions, the new pope heads to the "Room of Tears" to don the iconic white papal cassock for the first time. This room has become legendary for its emotional significance as many popes have felt overwhelmed upon being elected.

The new pontiff will then make his public debut on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica to greet the crowd and the world! Stay tuned for the big reveal.
