In a surprising twist, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce that Coca-Cola has agreed to start using real cane sugar in its beverages sold in the U.S. This comes after concerns raised by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. regarding the health effects of corn syrup, the primary sweetener currently used in American Coke products.

"I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so," Trump stated. He expressed his appreciation to those at Coca-Cola for the decision, insisting that “it’s just better.”

Coca-Cola has confirmed their gratitude for Trump's enthusiasm and teasingly hinted at upcoming innovative offerings in their product range. While U.S. Coke mainly relies on corn syrup, international versions, especially in places like Mexico and the UK, often feature cane sugar.

CEO James Quincey previously mentioned efforts to lower sugar levels in drinks through recipe alterations and marketing strategies. Kennedy, alongside his Make America Healthy Again initiative, has pushed for American companies to eliminate corn syrup and similar ingredients, claiming they contribute to various health issues. Trump himself enjoys Diet Coke, which contains aspartame, showcasing a contrasting approach to sweeteners.

As the debate rages over dietary guidelines and health impacts, will Coca-Cola's switch to cane sugar reshape what you sip?
