Six Palestinians were tragically killed by Israeli gunfire near an aid distribution center in southern Gaza, as reported by the Hamas-controlled Civil Defence agency. The incident occurred when people gathered for food supplies on a Saturday morning, leading to injuries for several others. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Israeli forces opened fire as individuals attempted to approach the aid site. The Israeli military responded by stating they only fired warning shots at individuals they deemed threatening.
This incident adds to a growing toll of Palestinian casualties linked to accessing the aid center, with dozens reportedly killed in recent days. Operations at the center, managed by the US-Israeli backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), have been temporarily halted due to safety concerns. Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal indicated that Israeli airstrikes also killed at least 15 people in a Gaza residential area, with workers currently attempting to rescue those trapped beneath rubble.
