In a bold move, Turkey's civil aviation authority is taking action against passengers who can't wait to pop up from their seats after landing. New rules state that if you stand up before the plane has come to a complete stop and the seatbelt sign is off, you could face fines up to around $70!

The agency claims it’s in response to a "serious increase" in complaints about passengers rushing to grab their bags from overhead compartments, causing a safety risk. To ensure adherence, airlines are required to announce new in-flight regulations reminding everyone to keep their seatbelts on and stay seated until it's safe to move.

National carrier Turkish Airlines has also updated its landing announcements, stressing that those who disregard these guidelines will face fines and will be reported. So next time you land in Turkey, remember to stay seated for a bit longer – your wallet (and your safety) might thank you!
