The prime suspect in the high-profile case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance has declined to be interviewed by the Metropolitan Police, the force has said.
The Met stated they sent an international letter of request to Christian Brückner, who is set to be released for a separate offense, but he later rejected the interview request.
Brückner, 48, has never been charged concerning the McCann case and denies any involvement. The outpouring of concern began when three-year-old Madeleine vanished in a Portuguese resort, where she was left sleeping with her siblings while her parents enjoyed dinner nearby.
Despite being the prime suspect since 2020, investigators are struggling to find substantial evidence to bring charges. The search continues, backed by significant funding, but the investigation faces numerous challenges.
