A family in Birmingham was left heartbroken when their Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyland Paris was abruptly canceled due to travel disruptions caused by the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb near Gare du Nord station.

Toni Mannion, 38, was eagerly anticipating this trip for her terminally ill daughter Daisy, five, who has complex health needs. "We were looking forward to creating special memories," Toni said, reflecting on how the adventure would allow them to cherish important moments together.

Although the bomb was safely defused on Friday, making way for regular Eurostar services by Saturday, the Mannion family’s plans were already dashed. Daisy suffers from a rare metabolic disorder, Nonketotic hyperglycinemia, and her mother expressed concerns about time slipping away, stating, "We just never know how long we've got left with her."

While other travelers, like Vicky and her mother Jo, adjusted their plans when they got stuck in Paris, the Mannion family's disappointment remained palpable. They had hoped to travel with Daisy and her siblings, and Toni noted that while Make-A-Wish plans to reorganize their trip, the setback has been "gutting."

Travelers across the UK faced chaos as they scrambled for alternative arrangements, with many reporting issues with the Eurostar app. Bob and Mavis from Nottingham expressed frustrations over accessibility, highlighting the challenges faced during tumultuous travel conditions.

Despite the unfortunate events, some travelers are finding ways to make the best of their circumstances, but for the Mannions, the focus is on hoping to reschedule a trip filled with joyful memories.
