In a momentous event for space exploration, SpaceX successfully launched its Fram2 mission on Monday night from Florida, marking the first human flight to orbit directly over both of Earth's poles. The crew of four private astronauts, including cryptocurrency entrepreneur Chun Wang, embarked on a journey that aims to broaden our understanding of the planet from high above.
The spacecraft, positioned around 270 miles above the Earth, is set to operate for three to five days, completing multiple passes over the North and South Poles each day. While many satellites have been observing Earth from polar orbits for years, the inclusion of humans in these missions is seen as a significant milestone.
Chun Wang, originally from Tianjin, China and now a Maltese citizen, finances this mission, although the exact amount remains undisclosed. His crew members join him in their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, with hopes that the mission will shed light on advancements in human space travel and help scientists study polar climates more effectively.
As the Fram2 mission unfolds, it elevates the possibilities of human presence in space, promising exciting discoveries about our home planet’s polar regions.
