In brief
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology forecasts thundershowers and hail in many regions on Sunday, along with cold gusts, fog, and rough seas for the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf. The forecast covers Jazan, Asir, Al‑Baha, Mecca, Medina, Hail, the Northern Borders, the Eastern region, and includes dusty gusts in Riyadh and Qassim. Travelers and residents should stay alert to sudden weather changes and possible disruptions.
On Saturday, local weather officials announced that November 1 will bring heavy rains, thunder, and hail across most of Saudi Arabia. The National Center for Meteorology says the storms will hit places like Jazan, Asir, Al‑Baha, Mecca, Medina, Hail, the Northern Borders, and the Eastern region.
In addition to the rain, the forecast calls for cold breezes and fog in these areas. Parts of Riyadh and Qassim may see gusty winds that stir up dust.
The winds will be strong over the Red Sea. In the northern part of the sea, speeds will range from 12 to 35 km/h. In the middle, winds will go 12 to 32 km/h, and in the south, 12 to 32 km/h as well. Wave heights on the Red Sea will climb from half a meter to one and a half meters, and the surface will feel mild to choppy.
The Arabian Gulf will see winds from the east and southeast ranging from 10 to 50 km/h. In the northern Gulf, wind speeds between 10 and 28 km/h could tumble up to 50 km/h, and a similar pattern will occur in the southern Gulf. Wave height there will be from half a meter to over two meters, while the sea will stay calm.
Because of the strong storms and the rough seas, people are advised to stay inside when possible, avoid outdoor activities, and plan for shaking or flooding in low‑lying areas. Drivers should plan extra time on the road, and outdoor workers should wear protective gear.
