In brief

China has extended visa-free stays for transit tourists from 3-6 days to 10 days as part of a broader strategy to boost tourism and welcome visitors back following pandemic restrictions.

China is making it easier for tourists to explore its vast landscapes by extending visa-free transit stays from a few days to a whole week and a half! This update, effective immediately, allows travelers from 54 countries—including the U.S.—to enjoy up to 10 days in the country without needing a visa. Previously, tourists could stay for only 3 to 6 days, depending on where they entered. Along with this generous extension, China has widened its welcoming arms even further by adding 21 new ports of entry, making a total of 60 locations where travelers can land. The Chinese government is excited, urging more foreign friends to come and experience the beauty of the nation in this "new era." Plus, travelers can now visit 24 provinces, moving beyond just their entrance point, making it easier than ever to soak in those stunning sights!
