A tragedy struck the set of 'Emily in Paris' as 47-year-old assistant director Diego Borella died unexpectedly while filming for season five in Venice. Medics rushed to the scene at Hotel Danieli around 19:00 local time after Borella collapsed in front of his colleagues. Despite the immediate assistance from the show's medical staff, they could not save him.
Paramount Television Studios, which produces the Netflix hit, expressed deep sadness over the incident. "We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the 'Emily in Paris' production family," they stated. Filming has been temporarily suspended as the cast and crew come to terms with the loss.
'Emily in Paris', a romantic comedy series starring Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, debuted during the pandemic in 2020 and gained immense popularity. In its fourth season, which premiered in 2024, Emily relocates to Rome for work. The show is set to release its fifth season later this year, but for now, the focus is on honoring the memory of Borella amid this difficult time.
