In brief
A British court has upheld a national security ban on a Chinese citizen, closely associated with Prince Andrew, raising concerns about possible espionage activities within the royal circles.
Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, is under scrutiny tied to a Chinese espionage case following a ruling by a British court. The court has upheld the decision to bar a Chinese citizen, dubbed H6, from entering the U.K. due to national security threats. H6 is described as a "close confidant" of Andrew and reportedly maintains ties to the Chinese Communist Party and various organizations seeking to expand Chinese influence overseas. The court determined that H6 was capable of leveraging relationships with prominent figures in the U.K. and Chinese officials, potentially for political interference. He studied in Britain, launched a consultancy for British firms exploring investment in China, and was appointed by Prince Andrew, who had served a decade ago as a British trade envoy.Dominic Hampshire, a senior adviser to Andrew, had previously confirmed H6’s role in dealings with investment opportunities in China. The situation escalated when security services seized H6's mobile and digital devices at the border in November 2021, unveiling links to political interference concerning the British royalty.
