Police Unveil New Images From Falconio Murder Case
After 25 years, the Southern Territory Police are showing fresh photo evidence from the 2001 shooting of British backpacker Peter Falconio.
Falconio was shot on a remote stretch of highway near Barrow Creek, 186 miles north of Alice Springs. Murdoch, the convicted murderer, reportedly never disclosed where the victim’s body was hidden.
The new photographs show the crime scene and the abandoned orange Volkswagen Kombi van the couple was traveling in, possibly giving clues about where the body could be buried.
Joanne Lees, the lone survivor, was photographed immediately after her escape from Murdoch’s vehicle, showing physical injuries that further corroborate the 2005 trial.
