In a striking incident in Anhui province, China's historic Drum Tower, known for its rich heritage and status as one of the largest in China, experienced a dramatic roof collapse while visitors were nearby. Eyewitness footage captured the moment when hundreds of ancient tiles tumbled to the ground around 6:30 PM local time, thankfully missing all onlookers.

Local authorities from the Fengyang County Culture and Tourism Bureau confirmed that everyone remained unharmed during the event on Monday. The Drum Tower, initially built in 1375 during the Ming Dynasty, underwent significant restoration in 1995. Due to the collapse, the county is currently conducting an investigation, analyzing the design and construction of the recent repairs.

Experts and supervision units have been dispatched to thoroughly examine the situation and ensure the safety of future visitors. Meanwhile, the iconic structure is closed until further notice, with plans for repairs and a potential reopening date soon to be revealed.
