In brief
A bomb explosion on a school bus has rocked a region already troubled by violence.
On Wednesday morning, a school bus carrying 46 students in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan Province became the target of a devastating bomb attack that left six people dead, including four children. The grim incident occurred near Khuzdar, around 180 miles south of Quetta, the provincial capital. Balochistan’s chief minister, Sarfraz Bugti, confirmed the casualties during a press conference, also noting that the bus driver and an assistant were among the deceased. Several others were wounded as a result of the explosion, which was caused by a bomb hidden in a vehicle. The school bus was transporting students to a military-run school situated in a high-security area, emphasizing the growing trend of militant groups intentionally targeting vulnerable populations, particularly children. This incident highlights the ongoing violence in Balochistan, a region long affected by militant activity and separatist conflicts.
