A heartfelt journey to Disneyland Paris took a tragic turn for five-year-old Daisy Mannion and her family when their Make-A-Wish trip was abruptly cancelled due to Eurostar service disruptions. The chaos stemmed from the discovery of an unexploded World War Two bomb near Gare du Nord station in Paris, forcing safety measures that left the family "gutted."
Daisy, who has a rare metabolic disorder known as Nonketotic hyperglycinemia, relies on a wheelchair and faces significant health challenges. Her mother, Toni Mannion, expressed her heartbreak, saying they were excited to make unique memories together. Despite the cancellation, Toni is hopeful that the Make-A-Wish charity will find a way to reorganize their much-anticipated trip.
While many travelers were struggling with disrupted plans, some, like Vicky and her mother Jo, chose to turn their unexpected situation into an adventure and extended their stay in Paris, aiming to soak in the local sights. However, countless others, like Bob and Mavis from Nottingham, had to contend with frustrating delays and issues with the Eurostar app, which was crashing under increased demand.
