Carly Simon tells the world she has Parkinson’s
The iconic singer who cracked the charts in the 70s may well never forget how it felt to stand on stage. 83‑year‑old Carly Simon has revealed that she is living with Parkinson’s disease and is learning how to navigate the unpredictable ups and downs of the illness. The singer said some days her energy is low and it becomes hard to move, but on other days she feels a bit freer and keeps on working and creating.
After a surgery to remove a cancerous growth on her face, Simon admitted that the operation made her more self‑conscious in public, adding that she has always been pretty critical of her appearance. She continues to say she is still singing, writing and sharing her thoughts, though she sometimes feels like a starfish left out of life’s invitations.
Despite her health battles, Simon announced a new record, Comes In Waves, slated for release in August 2026. The first single, Howl, was issued last month and already shows her gift for turning heartbreak into raw empathy.
Simon reflects that she has received a lot of love and patience from family, friends and doctors. She continues to write, sing and laugh while accepting that each day will look a bit different.
