The new season of dating show The Bachelorette has been cancelled following domestic violence allegations against this season's star, ABC has said. The network stated it 'made the decision to not move forward with the new season' after footage emerged showing Taylor Frankie Paul in an apparent altercation with her ex-partner Dakota Mortensen.

Paul, a TikTok influencer also known for her role in Hulu's Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, was arrested in 2023 for her involvement in the incident and has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. A spokesperson for Paul mentioned that she is focusing on her family’s safety and is preparing to share her story.

Dakota Mortensen, the father of Paul’s third child, expressed his priorities are centered on their son’s well-being. Following the release of the video, a spokesperson for Disney confirmed the cancellation of the show. The Bachelorette was expected to premiere soon, but this decision leaves viewers uncertain about what will air during the allocated timeslot.

Paul had been actively promoting the new season just days before the cancellation, stating, 'Honestly, it's been a heavy time to see the headlines.' She commented on the excitement the season was supposed to bring before the negative turn of events. Furthermore, production for the fifth season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is also on hold as the cast felt uncomfortable filming amid the situation.
