The new season of dating show The Bachelorette has been canceled following domestic violence allegations against this season's star, ABC has said. The Disney-owned network stated that it 'made the decision to not move forward with the new season at this time' after footage of Taylor Frankie Paul emerged showing her in an altercation with her ex-partner in 2023.

Paul, who is also a TikTok influencer known for her role in Hulu's Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, was arrested in relation to the incident in 2023 and later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, according to US media reports. The upcoming season was set to premiere Sunday.

A spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television mentioned the cancellation decision was made 'in light of the newly released video just surfaced today,' referring to footage published by TMZ.

ABC has not yet announced what will replace The Bachelorette in its scheduled timeslot. In a recent appearance on ABC's Good Morning America, Paul spoke about her concerns regarding the headlines surrounding her and the timing of the show’s release, which she indicated was supposed to be a time of excitement.

Additionally, Paul confirmed that her other show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has paused production for its fifth season due to the situation. Her fellow cast member, Mikayla Matthews, echoed that they decided as a group not to proceed with filming because of the ongoing issues.

Paul gained recognition on social media, particularly within the #MomTok community of young mothers involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she shared her parenting experiences and dance videos. She previously made headlines in 2022 when announcing her divorce and discussing her open marriage.
