NEW YORK — Sherry Jenkins from Blairstown, New Jersey, fully embraces the Halloween spirit, especially since her town is famous as the filming location of the classic horror movie 'Friday the 13th'. The annual celebration includes decorating her home, hosting friends, and giving out candy to an overwhelming number of trick-or-treaters.

According to a recent AP-NORC poll, about two-thirds of adults in the U.S. intend to celebrate Halloween this year, with parents of children under 18 particularly enthusiastic. Jenkins joked, 'I’m not here for healthy snacks—just good old candy.'

For the majority, traditional treats remain the top choice, as only 5% plan to hand out healthier alternatives. Jenkins noted that she might even dress her dog in a butterfly costume, which is less common among adults—only 9% say they'll dress up their pets.

Celebrations are especially prominent among parents: 80% plan to take their kids trick-or-treating, compared with 60% of those without kids. Excited families like Jessica Byrd's in Arizona and Fred Joncas's in North Carolina are gearing up for Halloween with their uniquely themed costumes. Byrd’s family costumes include characters from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and Pokémon, demonstrating the creative spirit of the holiday.

Overall, Halloween is not just a spooky occasion but a time for layout creativity and family bonding, as demonstrated by Kathy Rice in Colorado, who decorates her home year-round. However, many people enjoy a moderate celebration without extensive decorations, like Karalyn Kiessling in Michigan, who loves dressing up for parties.

With the holiday drawing near, the thrill and anticipation for Halloween fuel the excitement across the nation.
